Public networking sites can really reassure you about the paths you’ve taken in life sometimes. Today I got a facebook add from my best friend throughout elementary and middle school. Unfortunately, we lost touch in high school, as he joined the football team, and I continued my pursuit to be a professional Counter-Strike player. Aside from this, we basically were one in the same.
It’s funny how something like becoming a jock strap can change the way things are. Fast forward six years. I’m sitting around, not writing my paper, looking at porn, as I get an e-mail from facebook saying that he’s added me to friends. At this point in our lives, I’m doing alright at my university, and he’s about to be deployed to Iraq. He messages me via Facebook messenger, and we talk about how he’s probably going to get blown up by an RPG, and how I’m probably going to get an “A” on my quiz about The Bacchae. During this conversation, I continue to browse his facebook, when lo and behold, under favorite television shows, I see none other than Mind of Mencia. Boy am I glad I never played football.
